Safety Looks Good On Us
Recognizing CityServiceValcon’s commitment to safer work, stronger teams, and the people who keep propane moving
Each August, OSHA’s Safe + Sound Week highlights the everyday habits that help employees do their jobs safely. We just wrapped up this year’s Safe + Sound Week, but at CityServiceValcon, the practices it celebrates are part of how we work year-round.
At CityServiceValcon, those habits start long before a truck leaves the yard. Here’s how our teams keep safety moving through clear communication, hands-on training, and a shared responsibility to protect the people and places we serve.
Safety Starts With a Heads-Up
At CityServiceValcon, safety runs with an open flow of information. Customer Service Representatives share details about tricky hills, construction, access issues, or customer site notes. Drivers send updates from the field so the next person arriving has a clearer picture of what to expect. For a driver, that might mean a heads-up about winter slips, tire pressure or road conditions. For office teams, it might mean staying alert and aware throughout the day.
That kind of communication is our Courageous Culture at work. We interact beyond ourselves and take responsibility for each person going home safely. It also supports our Stop Work Authority, which gives every employee the ability to pause operations when something feels unsafe. See something, say something, do something, even when it is hard. When folks are trusted to speak up, they are better equipped to protect themselves, their teammates, and our customers.
As Rob Cox, Director of Plant Operations, puts it, “Safety and great service go hand in hand.”
Ready Before the Route Begins
A safe propane delivery starts well before a truck leaves the yard.
New team members build safety habits through orientation and ride-alongs, learning from experienced employees in real working conditions. Those early experiences help our people spot hazards, ask better questions, and understand what safe service looks like in the field.
Going Beyond the Delivery
CityServiceValcon operates in compliance with the Montana Department of Environmental Quality, Idaho Department of Environmental Quality, Washington Department of Natural Resources, the Departments of Transportation in Montana, Idaho, and Washington, and other regulatory groups.
We also maintain inventories of environmental protection and response products to help other businesses prepare for and protect against environmental releases.
Safety is Our Standard
Safe + Sound Week gives us a chance to celebrate the care and coordination that help protect our people. For us, that care guides the job every day, from the first check of the morning to the final drop-off.
Because when propane service is done right, safety is always along for the ride.
