Fuel Up in Butte, Then Go Wander

Three Road Trips from Butte Worth Packing Snacks For

There is a lot to love about Butte, from its rich history to easy access to some of the state’s best day trips.

As one of CityServiceValcon’s Montana locations, Butte is a community we’re proud to serve. We provide propane to homeowners and business owners across the state, helping keep homes comfortable, businesses running, and outdoor spaces ready for the season.

Here are three nearby stops worth adding to your list.

Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park

For a day trip with a little built-in “wow,” Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park is hard to beat.

The park is known for its guided cave tours through one of the largest known limestone caverns in the Northwest. It boasts the full gamut of outdoor adventures, including hiking, camping, fishing, canoeing, and wildlife viewing. At approximately 45 miles away, it’s close enough for an easy outing from Butte, with enough to explore that you can make the day as low-key or adventure-packed as you want.

Georgetown Lake

For a classic Montana outing, Georgetown Lake brings the mountain views and lake-day energy.

Located between Anaconda and Philipsburg, this popular recreation area offers boating, fishing, camping, and windsurfing. The lake spans 3,000 acres between the Flint Creek Range and the Pintlers, giving the whole area that beautiful, big-sky feeling.

Virginia City and Nevada City

About 80 miles from Butte, Virginia City and Nevada City are a little farther out, but still very doable for a day trip.

Virginia City brings the well-preserved Old West charm with historic streets, shops, dining, saloons, seasonal events, and no shortage of places to wander. Nearby Nevada City adds museum-style attractions and living history experiences that help bring Montana’s gold rush past to life.

Together, they offer a memorable look at the state’s history, with plenty of small-town character to explore.

Proud to Serve Butte

These nearby stops are just a few of the reasons Butte is such a special place to live, work, and spend a sunny day.

For CityServiceValcon driver Mitch Kilmer, serving the community where he lives makes the work especially meaningful.

“I’m proud to call Butte home, and it’s rewarding to spend my days helping the people and businesses in this community,” Mitch said. “You get to know the customers, the roads, and the places that make Butte special.”

CityServiceValcon is proud to provide residential and commercial propane to folks across Montana, supporting the local communities that make this region what it is.
